Common compressor failures include four types: jam, leakage, poor
operation and excessive abnormal noise.
1. Stuck Stuck means that the compressor cannot rotate when it is
stuck. The cause of seizure is usually poor lubrication or lack of
lubrication. If the clutch or transmission belt is found to be
slipping, after troubleshooting the clutch and transmission belt,
it is usually caused by the compressor jam.
2. Leakage Leakage is also a common failure of compressors. There
are two types of compressor leakage: oil leakage and gas leakage.
The leakage is slight, only the refrigerant is leaked; when it is
severe, both the refrigerant and the refrigerating machine oil are
leaked. If cracks appear on the cylinder of the compressor to cause
leakage, the compressor should be replaced.
3. Poor operation of the compressor. The compressor does not work
well, and the compression produces higher-temperature steam. This
cycle back and forth will scorch the refrigerating oil and cause
the compressor to be scrapped.
4. Abnormal noise is mainly caused by slippage when the clutch is
engaged or due to loose or worn transmission belt. Poor lubrication
of the transmission pulley bearing can also cause abnormal noise.
